KidzArt is a drawing based program exclusive to the curriculum within Glenwood Academy. Our private education, and small group capabilities, help children look at a picture while learning how to make it their own.
At the beginning, students often believe there is no way they could draw the project we assign at the start of this program. Through our instruction, not only do students draw the project, they produce their own masterpiece! The drawing is just the end result of this class, it is what goes on during class that really is where the magic happens.
At Glenwood Academy we teach that making mistakes is ok. This element is crucial and often left out of the dying public education system.
Without mistakes one can never learn or self-improve. So, when 'mistakes' happen, our instructors take these kids through a brainstorming, problem solving exercise on how they can make that 'mistake' work into their piece.
As students figure out how to make mistakes work, they see that the mistake turns into a challenging asset and the students build their confidence upon this learning block.
Ways of Giving
Tuition alone covers the basic costs of education our students. We encourage all parents and guardians to contribute in some way to Glenwood Academy.
The Annual Fund
The Annual Fund is an essential part of our school's funding. Without it, we would not be able to provide the many extras our parents have come to expect and associate with the School's education.
The Annual Fund provides the financial means to enrich our programs, while ensuring that tuition remains affordable for the widest range of families possible.
Each year, our school sponsors a campaign to raise money for the fund. Full participation not only supports the school financially, but demonstrates the solidarity of our school community to major outside donors.

Character Education
Glenwood Academy has an exclusive program called Character Counts. This program has been developed to give our students a competitive advantage in problem solving, congeniality and leadership within their careers as students, but also so they can each apply the program to real-world situations.
Bullying and deceit are becoming more and more accepted within the public school system and even amongst private social situations.
Glenwood Academy is proud to not only develop social and education skills amongst our students, but also set up a core system of value and character building blocks which help our publics become more enriched individuals.
Students are taught:
The value of citizenship and what is means
Compassion in society
Fairness
Integrity
Honesty
Perseverance
Responsibility
Respect
Self-discipline
Trustworthiness
Glenwood Academy doesn't want students to get lost in the crowd. This is why we are dedicated to small classroom sizes.
All of our classes are limited to ten students. We want students to be treated like the individuals they are, not a number. Teachers should be able to know what student is not present and the reason why.
With public education, oversized classrooms not only decrease a student's ability to learn but offers a chance for a student's absence (and reason why) to be overlooked.
Our school offers private education that is a relief for concerned parents. Our students and teachers develop a relationship, and sense of community, within the classroom. This helps improve each students skill set, attention span and offers some essential safety benefits not found in the public sector of education.
Researched Based Education.
Glenwood Academy personalizes each student's education experience. We offer advanced learning sessions amplified by a multi-sensory student culture.
Our researched based curriculum is aligned with Maryland's Voluntary State Curriculum. Furthermore, all techniques used are supported by our advanced atmosphere.
Both campuses employ the support of several specialists within, and relating to, the educational field.
Diversity
Glenwood Academy has a zero-tolerance policy against discrimination of any type, politics and/or bullying. The school does not classify children, or their potential, on the basis of race, religion, socio-economic status or ethnic origin.
Our school is based on research and not religion, social preference or popularity of unexplained theories.
All parents seeking a tailored plan for their child's educational career should consider setting up a tour.
Allergy Prevention
Glenwood Academy understands food allergies can be a matter of life or death. As a result, we pay strict attention to each child's dietary needs and food allergies.
Community
Glenwood Academy knows who your child is. It is a simple concept, but a concept lost amongst public education. Our affordable, private education allows classrooms to remain small while allowing a sense of community remains large.
Glenwood Academy is set amongst the most beautiful landscape in the U.S., and welcomes new students on a first-come, first-serve basis.
