Summer Adventure Camp &
Aquatic Program
Glenwood County School's Summer Adventure Camp offers many different opportunities for campers to learn, grow and have fun all summer long.
Our professional staff and low staff-to-camper ratio allows each child to have the most fun in a safe, supervised environment. We limit our enrollment to be the "Best Small Camp" in Howard County.
Our beautiful forty acre campus includes a swimming pool, sand pit volleyball court, soccer and lacrosse field, basketball court, playground and lots of opportunities to explore nature and the environment in the cool and refreshing woods. In addition, we have ample indoor space to accommodate our campers in periods of severe weather.
Seven Reasons to Send Your Child to "Summer Adventures Camp"
Summer Adventures Camp is a unique opportunity for children to broaden their horizons and explore various interests. There may be numerous reasons why you are considering sending your kids to camp this year, but often it is the intangible reasons that are the most important.
Increased Confidence is the number one benefit parents cite as to why they enroll their children in our camp. Learning new skills in an area of interest. Typically a child learns best when experiencing things first-hand. Taking healthy risks is one element of a good camp program.
Building Character is another element our program strives for. It gives children exposure to positive social behaviors. Teamwork is emphasized and this teaches to work together to build responsibility and develop leadership skills.
Sense of Accomplishment - Teachers are trained to encourage children's efforts and achievement in a friendly and non-competitive environment.
Safety should always be the number one importance in selecting a camp for your child. Our small camper/teacher ratio reduces the risk while providing a positive environment for personal growth.
Fun and Friendship is the main goal for kids! Our secluded 40 acre wooded setting provides terrific opportunities for kids to be exposed to others from diverse backgrounds, races, and religions and establish a sense of camaraderie.
Glenwood Country School is the premier camp destination in Howard County for children ages 2 to 12. With more than thirty wooded acres, our degreed staff will excite and inspire your child in a small, safe and nurturing environment.

Two Specialty Camp Choices
(Ages 4 to 12)
Computer Lab
The future of today's children depends upon their understanding of and ability to use technology. Our certified teachers and special programs provide students, ages 4 to 11, with life-long learning skills in an exciting and challenging environment. Computer Camp gives students a chance to learn together in small groups. Specialized curriculum actively involves lessons in math, science, critical thinking, problem solving and physics. We challenge children to apply what they learn.
Cooking Camp
This ideal hands-on and interactive cooking class will explore cooking techniques, the use of a variety of kitchen tools, follow recipes, learn basic nutrition and food safety. Take home recipes to share and, of course, eat yummy foods!
AQUATIC CAMP
...because every child should know how to swim.
We don't teach kids to play basketball on an adult court, nor would we teach a child to ski with adult equipment. It's just as silly to teach children to swim in an adult pool. That's why we specifically designed a pool only for kids. Come find out what families have learned about our Aquatic Program.
All Glenwood Country School's Aquatic Classes include:
Individualized, small group or large group instruction by the area's best aquatics staff means campers develop excellent swimming skills.
Children do not need to be registered for camp to receive lessons.
Competitive stroke mechanics.
Complete the registration form and return it with $25.00 application fee to take your child to the next level of swimming.

Lesson Types
Private Lessons
Private swim lessons are an excellent way to learn and/or perfect your child's swimming skills. If you want your child to become accustomed to the water or be competitive in all four strokes, then private lessons are for you!
Small Group
Small group lessons are a very good way to teach children who are a little shy or just like being around other kids. Your child will learn quickly not only by being instructed, but by learning by the example of other children. Small groups consist of three children.
Large Group #1 (skill levels 1-3)
Large groups consist of six children. Will teach all skills from level 1 to level 3. Perfect to give a child confidence he/she needs to have a great time in the water. (If the child is at the beginning of skill level 3, place them in Large Group #1).
Large Group #2 (skill levels 3-5)
Large groups consist of six children. Will teach all skills from level 3-level 5. (If the child is at skill level 3 but will probably advance to level 4 quickly, place them in Large Group #2).
Large Group #3 (skill levels 1-3)
Large groups consist of six children. Will teach all skills from level 1 to level 3. (If the child is at the beginning of skill level 3, place them in Large Group #3).
Large Group #4 (skill levels 3-5)
Large groups consist of six children. Will teach all skills from level 3-level 5. (If the child is at skill level 3 but will probably advance to level 4 quickly, place them in Large Group #4).
Parents and Tots (ages 6-35 months old)
Parents learn water adjustment techniques to help orient their children to the water (up to eight in a group). Parents will need to get in the water with their child.
