ABOUT GLENWOOD COUNTRY SCHOOL

Children at Glenwood Country School are placed in small groups of similar learning styles and levels of competency where they feel comfortable and are able to succeed. With fewer than ten students in a class, we are better able to differentiate instruction to maximize each child's growth.

A team of experts- teachers, speech/language pathologists and occupational therapist come together to focus their expertise for the benefit of each child. By using research-based curriculum, we provide both the flexibility to address each child's learning style and the framework of clearly defined goals. We devote so much attention to this process because we want to give our students the best opportunity to SUCCEED.

Glenwood Country School believes in developing the whole child. To do this we have embraced the Character Counts curriculum. It is a nationwide program that focuses on the six pillars of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. The Character Education Partnership between the staff and its parents instills in their children important core ethical values. Research in this area has found that pro-social behavior in the classroom is linked with positive intellectual outcomes.

Glenwood Country School's commitment to diversity is consistent with our focus on serving students with diverse learning styles. HISTORY

Glenwood Country School was founded in 1986 by a parent and teaching professional, Cheryl Stradling. GCS offers a small classroom setting designed to accommodate an individualized academic program that is driven by each student's ability. With fewer than ten students per class, the school's classrooms are dynamic centers of enthusiasm that develop a strong sense of community and academic rigor with hands-on, experiental learning.

Our campus was designed for children ages 2 to 5 and is located at 14785 Bushy Park Road, on a beautiful 40 acre wooded site. The campus includes a soccer/lacrosse field, a sandpit volleyball court, two blacktop areas, two playgrounds, and a swimming pool.

Through a strong school-family partnership and conservative fiduciary responsibility, Glenwood Country School offers affordable tuition at up to 50% less than comparable schools with similar offerings in terms of class size, alternative teaching methods and individualized instruction.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Glenwood Academy is organized as a not-for-profit corporation governed by a Board of Directors. The board serves as the policy-making body of the school.

The Board meets monthly to develop and monitor progress on the each school's strategic plan. The Board also exercises fiduciary oversight of operations, approves the annual budget, and oversees endowment and fundraising.

Glenwood Country School & Glenwood Academy Succeed With Ten Students Per Classroom.

Parents in Maryland have an affordable private school options as both campuses for Glenwood Country celebrate their 25th anniversary.

Glenwood Country School has proudly been serving pre-school through middle school students for twenty-five years. As a way to commemorate the schools twenty-fifth anniversary, Glenwood Country School (GCS) is offering parents a chance to enroll their child (ages two to thirteen) in one of the most learning enriched environments within the U.S.

GCS, which has two campuses, is dedicated to maintaining a pristine level of education. No more than ten students are allowed per classroom and the school offers on-site speech and occupational therapists as just one of many competitive advantages. GCS is a researched based institution affording each student personalized attention and individualized learning plans. In addition, the school has the capability to patiently work with children who possess learning differences.

GCS was birthed by Cheryl Stradling. Stradlings experience as a mother and teaching specialist provided her with the necessary tools needed to start up and sustain an education brand with stellar results. As other expensive private schools failed, GCS exceeded expectations within the education community. I started Glenwood because children have to have a chance to exceed. Oversized classrooms and a one-size fits all, cookie cutter mindset doesnt help students succeed. Stradling said. I wanted to provide an educational haven where students could be provided with the individual tools needed to flourish within their student careers. Twenty-five years later Glenwood is still going strong and I am looking forward to offering many more years of affordable, quality education.

Glenwood Country Schools limited enrollment will run on a first-come, first-serve basis. Pre-K students will obtain many progressive elements while at GCS, such as the Orton-Gillingham reading technique. Elementary students will also benefit from GCS assistive technology efforts. Lastly, middle-school students will benefit by being part of a community through talent and volunteer programs, which empowers both their education and character building blocks.

Glenwood Country School embraces the Character Counts Program while working alongside Marylands Voluntary State Curriculum. Both campuses are also allergy-aware environments. Parents of children with a multitude of environmental and food allergies praise GCS for their attentiveness to each students dietary needs.

Glenwood Country School is represented to the media by JumpStart Ink. The schools brand joins JumpStart Inks roster of Emmy Award & Grammy Nominee clientele. JumpStart Ink also represents educators from Ivy League schools and nationally recognized test-prep firms, such as Revolution Prep for high-school pupils.
